XTO Energy Pipeline Is Defeated

4-7-08  - The proposed XTO Pipeline at Metro Maples has been stopped and is now being built on my neighbor's unused land.  Work began Monday on clearing trees and brush with only minimal damage to my property so far.  Seven 100+ year old oaks and a large stand of Oklahoma plum trees were removed which will allow much more wind into my place, but the good news is that Metro Maples Shantung growing operation, test plant area,  and arboretum of rare trees are saved!  I still have not heard anything from XTO but the owner of the land where the work is being done has told me that he has signed an agreement for the pipeline which will be 10 feet south of Metro Maples property line.

I wish to thank Marianne from CBS 11 news for doing the pipeline story and everyone else that sent e-mails to XTO and prayed for me.  Thank you all very much.

View to the south of Metro Maples.  Nothing remains after a bulldozer and backhoe do their work.  The remaining greenery is on my property. Extremely rare Acer pseudosieboldianum ssp. Takesimense from Ullung-Do Island is left exposed after the neighbor removes his large post oaks.
This is what they could have done to Metro Maples!

Following Is A Response to All the Paid Gas Drilling Company TV Commercials:

In response to the TV commercials run by large gas drilling companies that insist the DF/W area is much better off with Barnett Shale drilling I would like to have you answer these questions.

Because of the Barnett Shale. . .
Are we going to have cleaner air?
Are we going to have less carbon dioxide emissions that contribute to Global Warming?
Are we going to have less crime?
Are our roads going to be less crowded and in better shape?
Is our water supplies going to be better?
Are people going to be more friendly?
Are we going to have more wildlife habitats?
Are we going to have more trees?

Here is my view of what we need to do:
Assumptions:  In 1959 the Exxon chairman predicted and told Congrees that world oil production would peak shortly after the year 2000.  That is what happened and Congress new about it and has done nothing.  Congress will still do nothing so we somehow must get a national vote, like we do on state and local issues, do get a good energy plan.  We need to start eliminating most carbon based emissions before we change our world's climate patterns.
The Plan:  Cut oil and gas imports 5 percent every year and let the markets do their thing.  American ingenuity will be able to find ways to solve our energy shortage and will have the timetable to get it done.  Most likely we will all have electric cars (you'll have to live closer to your work) and there will be lots of wind generators, nuclear plants, and solar panels.  Long distance highway travel will probably be only by bus and 18-wheelers.  Furthermore we can put Americans on welfare and in prison to work by planting millions more trees.
